Eco-friendly car made in Uganda / Coche eco-amigo fabricado en Uganda

Keeping my research of alternative solutions for the fossil fuels, I found a video about an African Engenier in Uganda that designed an electric car in 2009.
As you can see, it is inevitable and fossil fuels are not an option anymore. Human is looking for cleaner and cheaper solutions everywhere.

Today I had my second lecture in the Santa Fe National High school in Bantayan Island. This time kids were more shy but they were so impressed about the things I was explaining them. After the playing of the documentary Home, they were so touched and they were starting to be more eco-friendly. One example is that teacher was asking two of them to go to buy some snacks and she told them they could use her motorbike. Their reply was... No mom we want to go walking to be more eco-friendly. That is awesome. Results within 5 minutes! I will keep trying to do more lectures... Tomorrow another one!

Recycle for tricycles / Reciclo para triciclos

When I was in Puerto Princesa at Palawan. I was surprised when I saw following picture in one of the tricycles. Tricycles are a way of transport for short distances in filipino towns and cities. It is a motorbike that have a kind of sidecar attached where two or three people can travel.

No doubts that The Philippines are working hard in environmental issues.

Recycling cans at Green Belt, Manila / Cubos de reciclaje en Green Belt Manila

When I was in Manila, I went to a famous shopping center at Makati. This place has a lot of western restaurants and shops where Filipinos and foreigners can buy and go for dinning. I was so glad when I found reclying cans around the whole center. Of course I took a picture to show you that The Philippines are really worried about environmental issues.

How to be eco-friendly with a plastic bag

Here you have a video I took yesterday. My friend Elmn from South Africa is showing us how to be eco-friendly with a plastic bag. The important thing is not the plastic bag itself but the way to use it.
Definitely it is an easy way to be more efficient and eco-friendly. Thanks Elmn

Raining day in Shanghai

Yesterday I could not post because blogger was not working well. Maybe because of the censure in China... Today I should post yesterday post, but it can wait till tomorrow. Today is raining in Shanghai and it is more important to condemn a stupid habit that Chinese have when it rains. I will explain you as best as I can.

Shanghai, has many offices buildings. It is the city with more skyscrapers in the world. All of these buildings were built with fancy materials and designed to be the most fancy ever. But nobody thought that it could be a problem when it rains... and in Shanghai, it rains a lot. Every floor is made of slippery materials when water is on them. So coming inside to the buildings when it rains is a dangerous task and an added risk for going to work

This is even funny when you see people slipping... but what I will tell you now will probably make you cry. To avoid slipping people, brilliant Chinese minded person thought: why do not we release a plastic bag for umbrellas when they get into the building? Bingo! they found a cheap solution for this little problem and they can keep their fancy buildings. Here you have the machine... (pic on the right side)
Instead of using carpets, that are reusable and you can keep them for a pretty long time, they deliver plastic bags. Do you know how many people is living in Shanghai? 20 million. Maybe 5 to 7 million of them are going everyday to these kind of buildings and they are receiving a plastic "condom" bag for their umbrellas when it rains.

Each rainy day in Shanghai, uncountable plastic bags are being delivered within any control and making our planet more dirty.
(Here you have a happy Chinese with his plastic bag)

And here on the right side you have the result of an umbrella with it "condom"
I do not know if you can see the damage that it represents to our planet. And I am pretty sure that it is not something that it is only being done in Shanghai. Other cities in China are doing as well. And I am pretty sure that many other countries in the world have the same stupid habit. Tomorrow post will make you think deeper about it. It is a video about our daily actions...

By the way, I was inspired to post it today because I refused to use the plastic bag for my umbrella and someone in the door tried to force me to use it. I did not know that water is worse than a plastic bag...

PS. Of course I did  not use it and I use my hand to drain the water from my umbrella.

Vinegar as a cleaner!

All of us have heard that vinegar has many properties for health and as home made remedy. But not many people think vinegar can be used as a disinfectant and cleaner for our daily use.

"White vinegar is often used as a household cleaning agent. Because it is acidic, it can dissolve mineral deposits from glass, coffee makers, and other smooth surfaces. For most uses, dilution with water is recommended for safety and to avoid damaging the surfaces being cleaned.
Vinegar is an excellent solvent for cleaning epoxy resin and hardener, even after the epoxy has begun to harden. Malt vinegar sprinkled onto crumpled newspaper is a traditional, and still-popular, method of cleaning grease-smeared windows and mirrors in the UK. Vinegar can be used for polishing brass or bronze. Vinegar is widely known as an effective cleaner of stainless steel and glass.
Vinegar, historically, has been reputed to have strong antibacterial properties. One test by Good Housekeeping's microbiologist found that 5% vinegar is 90% effective against mold and 99.9% effective against bacteria, while another study linked with Clorox and Lysol showed vinegar to be too weak or inconsistent for it to be used effectively as a disinfectant.
Vinegar has been marketed as an environmentally-friendly solution for many household cleaning problems. For example, vinegar has been cited recently as an eco-friendly urine cleaner for pets and as a weed killer."

No doubts about vinegar is an ecofriendly product that we must use in our home cleaning process, in agriculture and as a medicine. If you want to check more information, click here and here

Plastic recycling video

Dear readers,

I have found a video that might inspire us to go in the correct direction for plastic recycling. Mike Biddle is talking about several things that not so many people talks about when we talk about plastics.
Maybe because petrol companies have hidden interests on that industry that moves billions of usd.
What would you think if I tell you that we can get same plastic from used plastic than the same we get from oil and other chemicals?

The answer in following link: We can recycle plastic
