When I was in The Philippines I found a very little girl doing souvenirs from chips plastic bags. She was doing it cause her mother was on a wheelchair because of polio and she wanted to help. Lovely girl with an incredible heart.

Could you imagine a world where machines work for the human needs? Could you imagine a world where people would not need to work for surviving? Could you imagine a world where everybody would develop themselves with anything they like?

Podrías imaginar un mundo donde las máquinas trabajaran para las necesidades humanas? Podrías imaginar un mundo dónde las personas no tuvieran que trabajar para subsistir? Podrías imaginar un mundo donde cada individuo se desarrollara con lo que realmente le gusta?

Well, this world can be real and Jacques Fresco is what has been developing for more than 30 years. Mr. Fresco is a industrial designer and social engineer. His background is quite long and we can remark his work in the Army Air Force Design and Development Unit or Design Developer of three-dimensional projection systems for Paramount producer Jack Moss. He also has written several books and produced several videos and films. Nowadays he is the founder and director of The Venus Project in Florida.

Bien, este mundo es posible y Jacques Fresco es lo que ha estado desarrollando durante más de 30 años. El Sr. Fresco es diseñador industrial e ingeniero social. Su experiencia es muy amplia pero podemos destacar sus trabajos en la Unidad de diseño y desarrollo del ejército del aire y su desarrollo y diseño de sistemas de proyección en tres dimensiones para el productor de la Paramount Jack Moss. También ha escrito varios libros y producido varios vídeos y películas. Actualmente es el fundador y el director de El proyecto Venus en Florida.

The main idea of this project is the creation of new concept of cities where technology will work for the humanity and the economy would not be a monetary system but resources system. Many people is not able to understand the concept, but it is really simple. As human, we are all owners of the natural resources we have on earth. Why a company should have the ownership of oil, food or water? Every resource belongs to the whole humanity and other alive beings. So structural idea is that every human being has the right to access of it. How we can do that? It is first time in the history that human can use technology to produce all that humans need. In a world where every human have they basic needs covered people would not need to work for money anymore and people would developed themselves with any interest they may have. Some of them would like technology, some others would like playing music, some others architecture, some others medicine and so on... The human would be motivated by tastes and not by money.

La idea principal de este proyecto es la creación de un nuevo concepto de ciudad en la cuál la tecnología trabajará al servicio de la humanidad y la economía no estaría basada en un sistema monetario, sino en un sistema de recursos. Mucha gente no es capaz de entender el concepto, pero en realidad es muy simple. Como humano, cada uno de nosotros es dueño de los recursos naturales que hay en el planeta. ¿Por qué una empresa tiene la propiedad de esos recursos? Todo recurso pertenece a la humanidad y a los seres que habitan en el planeta. Así que la idea estructural es que cada humano tenga acceso a esos recursos de manera igualitaria. ¿Cómo se puede realizar? Es la primera vez en la historia que la humanidad puede usar la tecnología para producir todo lo que el ser humano necesita. En un mundo en el que cada persona tuviera sus necesidades básicas cubiertas, la gente se desarrollaría en aquello que realmente quiere. Algunos serían amantes de la tecnología, otros serían amantes de la música, otros amantes de la arquitectura, otros de la medicina y así sucesivamente. La gente estaría motivada por sus gustos y no por el dinero.

I know you may have thousand of questions that suggest you to think this an utopia and your brain, made in the actual system, cannot understand some things. I could be writing longer explaining more about the project like the reduction of criminality it would mean or the birth control politic that we would need. But I suggest you to watch the interviews Mr. Fresco uploaded in his official website to clarify all the questions you have.

Se que muchos de vosotros tenéis miles de preguntas que os sugieren pensar que esto es una utopía y que vuestro cerebro creado en el sistema actual no os permite entender ciertas cosas. Podría estar escribiendo mucho más explicando más cosas sobre el proyecto, como la reducción de la criminalidad que esto implicaría, o la política de control de natalidad que se necesitaría. Pero os sugiero que veáis los vídeos que el Sr. Fresco tiene en su web oficial para aclaraos todas las dudas que tengáis.

Ludwick Marishane is a young entrepeneur who invented a water-less bathing lotion. With this invent people that do not have access to the water can take a bath using this lotion and fighting with it against terrible deseases as trachoma. Long time I have not posted a video from TED. Lately I read a book written by scientist of the University of Valencia, called "Innovation throw imitation of nature". In this book I found a reference about a scientist of the Berkley University and I started to look information about him. Fuel from used vegetal oil / Combustible de aceite usado vegetal

A spanish scientist has been rewarded with the Green Talent prize 2011. Rafael Luque is a young entrepeneur and scientist that studied in Cordoba University and York University. During his investigations he produced some catalysts that are used to transform the biomass.
With these products he could transform used vegetal oil in biofuel that is compatible with biodiesel and etanol structures.
His team also achieved the production of bioplastic bottles that are totally organic and they do not pollute at all or the production of perfumes from orange peel.

Un científico español ha sido premiado con el Green Talent 2011. Rafael Luque es un joven empresario y científico que estudió en la Universidad de Córdoba y en la Universidad de York Durante sus investigaciones ha producido unos catalizadores que permiten transformar la biomasa.

... The Sun give us in a day the energie we need in a year? This is what make me think the world is totally corrupted. Energie companies are not investing to find a device more efficience than actual solar pannels because the sun is a free energie and there are many economical interests on fossil fuels. But our planet is being destroyed because only few are getting richer and richer.

Dear readers,

First of all I have to say sorry about my absence for the last month. It was my last month in The Philippines and some relatives and friends came to visit the country. So I was very busy with them and I decided to stop writing for a while. I am again in my country and ready to keep my personal green fight.
One of the last places I was in the Philippines was the island of Malapascua. This island is a small beautiful place where you can enjoy amazing beaches, incredible diving spots, good people and good food.

But as every place, Malapascua hide something terrible for our planet. What happen with disposals here? Locals in this island keep doing their traditional way to hide the disposals, consisting in a hole on the earth where they bury the rubbish. Here everything is fine if everyting is organic disposals... Locals do not know the differences between organic and none organic disposals so they put everything together in these holes. Capitalism brought to them the new ways of live, but nobody tought them about the dangers of these products. Locals left the palm leave for a plastic plate and they give the same future either one.
There is a hope in this island. There is a group of people from different countries trying to teach locals about these kind of things and problems to preserve the place. Sure they will change the situation.

Primero de todo quiero disculparme por mi ausencia este último mes. Ha sido mi recta final en Filipinas y algunos familiares y amigos vinieron a visitarme, así que estuve muy ocupado con ellos y decidí parar de escribir un tiempo. Ahora estoy de nuevo en mi país preparado para continuar la lucha verde.

Uno de los últimos lugares que visité en Filipinas fue la isla de Malapascua. Malapascua es una pequeña isla donde se puede disfrutar de playas increíbles, espectaculares puntos de buceo, buena gente y buena comida.
Pero como cada lugar, Malapascua esconde algo terrible para nuestro planeta. ¿Qué ocurre con los residuos?
Los locales debido a su ignorancia, continúan utilizando sus viejos métodos para ocultar los residuos. Realizan hoyos en la tierra dónde arrojan todo tipo de residuos, orgánicos e inorgánicos, que luego entierran. El capitalismo ha traído las nuevas formas del mundo moderno a este tipo de lugares, pero nadie se ha preocupado de enseñar los efectos devastadores que pueden causar, ni han enseñado las nuevas formas para eliminar residuos inorgánicos. Los locales han cambiado su hoja de palma por el plato de plástico y le dan el mismo futuro a ambos.
A pesar de esto, hay una esperanza en la isla. Un grupo de extranjeros están intentando enseñar a los locales sobre este tipo de cosas para preservar el lugar. Seguro que conseguirán cambiar la situación.

Eco-friendly car made in Uganda / Coche eco-amigo fabricado en Uganda

Keeping my research of alternative solutions for the fossil fuels, I found a video about an African Engenier in Uganda that designed an electric car in 2009.
As you can see, it is inevitable and fossil fuels are not an option anymore. Human is looking for cleaner and cheaper solutions everywhere.

Mientras continuaba mi búsqueda de soluciones alternativas al petróleo encontré un video sobre un ingeniero ugandés que diseñó un coche eléctrico en 2009.
Como podéis ver, es inevitable y los combustibles fósiles dejan de ser una opción. Los seres humanos estamos buscando soluciones más limpias y baratas en todo el mundo.

How many animals are in extinction danger? / Cuántas especies hay en peligro de extinción?

The fact that the Spanish King was hunting elephants, made me remember that I wanted to write one day about animal species in extinction danger.
Official international statistics say that there are around 5200 animal species under extinction danger. The human behaviour affects directly on that figures, mainly because of illegal trade and hunting. But we are also affecting in an indirect way with the global warming, deforestation and rivers and oceans pollution.
It is a responsibility of every of us to stop it and change the situation. Life in our planet is on our hands.
In many other posts, I have said that small changes in our daily life, can have an unimaginable effect on the planet. Internet is full of ideas and ways to be better with our HOME. Just google how to be more ecofriendly and you will find a lot of information. Think about it now, we can still change it!

El hecho de que el Rey de España estuviera de caza de elefantes, me hizo recordar que quería hablar de los animales en extinción.
Estadísticas oficiales internacionales dicen que hay alrededor de 5200 especies en peligro. El ser humano afecta directamente en estos datos, principalmente por el comercio ilegal y por la caza. Pero también estamos contribuyendo de una manera indirecta con el calentamiento global, la deforestación y la contaminación de ríos y océanos.

Es nuestra responsabilidad parar esta situación y cambiarla. La vida en nuestro planeta está en nuestras manos. En muchas otras entradas siempre he dicho que pequeños cambios en nuestra vida diaria pueden tener un efecto inimaginable en el planeta. Internet está lleno de ideas para ser mejor con nuestro HOGAR. Si buscáis en google como ser más ecoamigo encontraréis cantidad de información. Pensad ahora sobre ello, todavía estamos a tiempo de cambiar ésto.

Spanish King / El Rey de España

Today I want to dedicate the post to the king of Spain. Few days ago, the king felt down during an elephant hunt safari in Africa. This trip was totally hide to the people and we would not have known anything if he had not fallen. Care for Gaia is completely dissapointed with this fact. First of all because he is hunting, second because he was hunting an animal that is in extintion danger, and last because he did it while spanish people is suffering the worst economical crisis ever.
Today he said sorry, but it is not enough and the spanish goverment and spanish crown have to know it.
I feel ashamed as spanish! And I want to say that twitter and facebook in Spain are hardly blaming and asking for answers!

Home made solar water heater / Calentador solar casero para agua

Several days ago I was searching information about homemade invents to use the solar energy into our daily lifes. I liked one of them consisting in a very basic idea but it can heat water up to very high temperatures enought for our shower, cooking, cleaning, etc.
It consists in making a spiral with a black plastic tube and installed it on the roof of our house. It that way, and depending on how many meters of tube and how thick it is, you have a big quantity of water being heated by sun without any solar pannel. Having hot water never was than easy!

Hace algunos días estuve buscando inventos caseros que usen la energía solar en nuestra vida diaria. Me gustó uno especialmente que consiste en una idea muy básica para calentar agua a altas temperaturas, suficiente para la ducha, cocinar, limpiar, etc.
Consiste en hacer una espiral con un tubo de plástico negro e instalarlo en el techo de nuestras casas. De esta manera, y dependiendo de los metros de tubo, y como de grueso sea, tenemos una gran cantidad de agua que estará siendo calentada por el sol sin ningún tipo de placa solar. Nunca fue tan fácil tener agua caliente!

More about solar energy / Más sobre energía solar

I am getting deeper in the solar energy and it is being very fascinating. I have read about a company based on Israel (GreenSun Energy) that has been working on solar panels that do not need to have direct light from sun. Basically these panels works with nano particles of metals and this composition make them 12 % more efficient and they are developing a new model 20% more efficient. Apart from that, it has another advantages compares with the traditional solar panels. They are more economical to produce because they use less silicon, less toxic materials, less surface and they do not need a cooling system for refrigeration (Thermal Stability). Regarding the company they have a clear target, and it is finding the way to make solar energy as efficient as fossil fuels energy sources!

Me estoy metiendo más a fondo en el tema de la energía solar y está siendo apasionante. He leído acerca de una empresa basada en Israel (GreenSun Energy) que ha estado trabajando con paneles slares que no necesitan la luz directa del sol. Básicamente estos panles trabajan con unas nano partículas de metales en su composición que los hacen un 12% más eficientes y están trabajando en un nuevo modelo un 20% más eficiente.  A parte de esto, tienen otra serie de ventajas comparados con los paneles tradicionales. Son más económicos en su producción pues utilizan menos silicio, utilizan menos productos tóxicos, se necesita menos superficie y no necesitan de un sistema de refrigeración, son termo estables. Acerca de la compañía mencionar que tienen un claro objetivo, y es encontrar la manera de hacer de la energía solar una fuente tan eficiente como los combustibles fósiles.

In my interest to know more about the solar energy and the development regarding this industry, I googled "solar invents" to see what I could find. It has been a quite surprising to find many invents based on solar energy. Some of them are more useful than others, and some others are simply funny. Here I show you the  3 I considered really interesting for our daily life:

En mi interés por conocer más sobre la energía solar y el desarrollo en este campo, he buscado en google "inventos solares" para ver que podía encontrar. Ha sido muy curioso e interesante encontrar un montón de inventos basados en esta energía. Algunos de ellos son más útiles que otros y otros son simplemente divertidos.  Os dejo una muestra de los que considero los 3 más interesantes para la vida diaria:

1. Solar tent / Tienda solar: It allows to get the energy from our sun and recharge our devices while we are sleeping in any place. It walls are also made with a special fabric and it bright at night.
Permite captar energía solar y recargar nuestros aparatos electrónicos durante la noche mientras dormimos en cualquier lugar. Sus paredes están hechas de un material especial que brilla en la oscuridad.

2. Solar Chargers / Cargadores solares: Chargers that charge different kind of devices like mp3, phones batteries, shavers... Cargadores que pueden cargar diferentes tipos de aparatos como mp3, baterías de teléfono, máquinas de afeitar...

3. Solar external lamp / Lampara solar para exteriores: I love this one. It is a lamp that you can charge it during the day and when you turn it 180 grades it turns on automatically. It is also a cool design and a great idea for summer nights outside. Esta me encanta. Es una lámpara que se carga durante el día y cuando le das la vuelta automáticamente se enciende. Muy buena idea para las noches de verano en el exerior.



There are other interesting invents such a solar kitchen, solar refrigerator or heater, etc... I invite you to look for more invents for your houses or to use during your daily life... you can save a lot of energy and money!!

Hay otros inventos interesantes como cocinas solares, refrigeradores o calentadores solares, etc... Os invito a que busquéis algunos para vuestras casas y vuestra vida diaria... podéis ahorrar mucha energía y dinero!!

 I could not even prepare an own post so what I am going to share today is something that I saw on facebook yesterday in the wall of a group that I am member (Scuba Diver Life)

The video is a trailer of a film that wants to show us how birds are dieing because of the plastics of the Pacific Garbage Patch. Interesting to watch it and think about it.

En primer lugar quiero pediros disculpas por mi ausencia los últimos días. He sufrido una intoxicación alimentaria por salmonella y amebas he tenido unos días difíciles que no me han permitido escribir.
Ni siquiera he podido preparar una entrada para hoy así que lo que voy compartir es un vídeo que vi ayer en facebook de un grupo al que pertenezco (Scuba Diver Life).

El vídeo es el trailer de una película que nos muestra como ciertos pájaros están muriendo por los plásticos de la Isla de Basura del Pacífico. Es interesante de ver y reflexionar.

One of the things that is a key for the future of our planet is the development of the big cities. We have listen many times about, green cities, green neighbourhoods, green buildings, but what is this? Are they places full of trees and full of plants? In the next video Mr. Alex Steffen explain us the evolution of the cities, how we can be more sustainable living in a dense population place and the future of the cities.

Hemos escuchado en numerosas ocasiones sobre diferentes conceptos como, ciudades verdes, barrios verdes, edificios verdes... Pero qué es esto realmente? Son lugares llenos de árboles y plantas? En el siguiente vídeo, el Sr. Alex Steffen nos explica la evolución de las ciudades, como es posible ser más sostenible viviendo un un área muy poblada y sobre el futuro de las ciudades.

Paints in Dumaguete / Pinturas en Dumaguete

I always say that Filipinos are concerned about the environmental issues and all related to our earth. They are working hard to make aware people about it.
One of the samples are the work they are doing in the high schools all over the country. Environmental issues are a must and children have to work on that. Here there is an example that I found walking around Dumaguete in the external walls of a high school. Beautiful to find this kind of works, and share it with you my readers.

Siempre he dicho que los filipinos están preocupades sobre el medio ambiente y todo lo relacionado con nuestro planeta. Están trabajando duro para concienciar a la gente sobre ello. Un ejemplo esta en el trabajo que están haciendo en los institutos en todo el país. El medio ambiente es deber que los estudiantes tienen y un ejemplo de ello es lo que encontré en los muros externos de un instituto en Dumaguete. Es bello encontrar este tipo de trabajos y poder compartirlos con vosotros, los lectores.

Solar light with a plastic bottle / Luz solar con una botella de plástico

I got up this morning and I connected to facebook. One of my good friends, Gisela, posted an awesome video on her wall. In the video, a Filipino explains how he brought light to a poor neighborhood in Manila. Only using a plastic bottle, water and a bit of bleach. Definitely he changed the life of more than 600 hundreds people, and he is still doing it. If you have a dark place and you want to make it clear, you should consider these invent to do it in a sustainable way. Sun is full of energy for us!

Me he levantado esta mañana y me he contectado a facebook. Una de mis buenas amigas, Gisela, ha posteado un hermoso video en su muro. En el vídeo un filipino explica como ha llevado luz a un barrio pobre de Manila. Solamente usando una botella de plástico, agua y un poco de cloro. Definitivamente ha cambiado la vida de más de 600 personas y aún continúa haciéndolo. Si tenéis un lugar oscuro que queréis iluminar, deberíais considerar este invento y hacerlo de una manera sostenible. El sol está lleno de energía para nosotros!

Fighting against the global warming in Bantayan / Luchando contra el calentamiento global en Bantayan

Several months ago I posted about the fight against the global warming filipinos are doing in Manila. There is an avenue close to Intramuros where they plant trees with that purpose.
After months I was going around Bantayan Island and I saw a national road full of these advertisments with all these trees that were planted for the same purpose. Here you have pictures taken there. It would be good if we copy it in western countries.

Hace algunos meses hice una entrada sobre la lucha contra el calentamiento global que hacen en Manila. Hay una avenia cerca del barrio de Intramuros dónde han plantado numerosos árboles con ese propósito.


Después de algunos meses estaba viajando alrededor de la isla de Bantayan cuando vi una carretera nacional llena de estos carteles con todos estos árboles plantados con el mismo propósito. Aquí tenéis unas fotografías del lugar. Sería muy bueno si copiáramos esta costumbre en los países de occidente.

Polluted paradise / Paraíso contaminado

Happy Monday!! If we can say that being Monday and seeing what I saw today. I have been diving in a beautiful place for the last 2 days. Incredible place for divers. But once more, I saw how a paradise is polluted with plastic on it waters and it beaches and it lakes... I have to say, that it is not the worst place I have ever seen. But it is sad anyways. When I arrive this kind of places I always dream finding a clean and unique place, but as soon as I get those places dream turns in a nightmare.
To remind about the importance of use of plastics, I am posting today a new video where Dianna Cohen talks about plastic in oceans and in our lives.

Es un lugar increíble para buceadores, pero una vez más, he visto como un paraíso está contaminado con plásticos en sus aguas, playas y lagos... Tengo que decir que no es el peor lugar que he visto, pero sigue siendo triste de todos modos. Cuando llego a este tipo de sitios, sueño con que sea un lugar limpio y único, pero tan pronto como llego allí el sueño se convierte en una pesadilla. Beach cleaning in El Nido / Limpieza de playa en El Nido

When I was in El Nido I was walking on the beach in the morning. I saw some people picking plastics and other things from the beach and digging holes in the sand, where they were putting the organic disposals. I think it is a brilliant way to clean the beach because you remove the non organic disposals and you make the organic disposals complete the natural cycle again coming back to the nature. And as a parallel effect, you keep the beach in clean conditions for the tourism. This is eco-tourism!


Cuando estuve en El Nido estuve caminando en la playa un día por la mañana. Identifiqué algunas personas recogiendo plásticos y otros residuos y haciendo unos agujeros en la arena donde depositaban los residuos orgánicos. Creo que es una manera inteligente de limpiar la playa porque elimina los residuos inorgánicos y permites que los orgánicos completen su ciclo natural volviendo a la naturaleza. Y además mantienes la playa limpia para el turismo. Esto es ecoturismo!

One of the days I went to Bantayan (town) I decided to stop in Obob. It is a barangay between the main two towns in Bantayan Island. I´ve never been there before but I am happy I stopped over there. Check the place where I was meditating for 45 minutes after I filmed the video.

Solar Energy example / Ejemplo de energía solar

One of the things I want to do is have a better knowledge about solar energy and invents that work with solar energy. I have been surfing on the Internet and I found following video. A retired engineer is using solar energy for his car, his tractor and his chainsaw. Going forward he explain how he does it and he show us the power of every machine. Definitely it makes me wonder why there is no commercialized cars and other machines apart from solar calculators... I think all of us know the reasons why, economical interests because of oil.

Una de los temas en los que quiero profundizar es la energía solar y los inventos que funcionan con esta energía. He estado buscando en internet y he encontrado el siguiente video (inglés). Un ingeniero jubilado está utilizando la energía solar para su coche, su tractor y su sierra mecánica. Yendo más lejos, nos explica cómo lo hace y la fuerza que tienen todas su máquinas. Definitivamente esto me hace preguntarme porqué no hay coches y otras máquinas comercializadas a parte de las tradicionales calculadoras solares. Creo que todos sabemos la respuesta a esta pregunta: intereses económicos en torn al petróleo.

Reciclying at Marikaban / Reciclando en Marikaban

Marikaban is one of the Barangays (small district) where I went to do one of my lectures. In this particular place, the Barangay Captaim cares a lot about sustainability and environment. He is protecting some areas as Marikaban marine sanctuary, where is not allowed to swim and he is installing  segregation trash cans for different disposals. Here you have a picture with segregation of non-biodegradable and biodegradable disposals.

Marikaban es uno de los Barangays (distrito o comarca) donde fui a hacer unas de mis conferencias. En este lugar, el capitán del Barangay, está muy sensibilizado con el medio ambiente y la sostenibilidad. Ejemplo de ello es la conservación de algunos lugares como el santuario marino, dónde no se permite el baño y la instalación de cubos de basura para la separación de las mismas. Aquí os dejo fotografía de cubos para separar biodegradables de los que no lo son.

During my last lecture, I found out that kids had a kind pillow under their arms. I wonder what was it and they explained that was part of the science program. They had to use used plastics to make a pillow or cushion. Here you have some of the samples I saw. Different forms, different use, and all of them sustainable pillows. Can you imagine if pillow and cushion companies would adopt this idea?

Durante mi última conferencia, me di cuenta que los niños tenían unas almohadas y cojines debajo de sus brazos. Me pregunté que era eso, y me dijeron que formaba parte de su programa de ciencias. Tenían que utilizar plásticos para fabricar unas almohadas o cojines. Aquí tenéis unos cuantos ejemplos que vi. Diferentes formas, usos, pero todos sostenibles. Os hacéis una idea del efecto que tendría si algunas compañías fabricantes de cojines adoptaran la idea?

Yesterday one of my friend posted a documentary in facebook about geo-engineering. The geoengeniering talks about manage the climate to fight against the global warming, among other things. But the true is that the documentary has serious proofs to demonstrate that we are being sprayed with toxic things that planes are spreading on the atmosphere. These materials are Aluminium, Barium and Strontium. These materials are damaging the soils, waters, animals and plants and are causing a huge damage on human health and nature. I really recommend to watch the complete documentary and spread it in the world. We have to fight against it seriously.

Ayer una amiga publicó en facebook un documental acerca de geoingeniería. La geoingeniería en si habla de la manipulación del clima para luchar contra el calentamiento global, a parte de otras cosas. Pero la verdad es que este documental nos muestra serias pruebas de que estamos siendo rociados con materiales tóxicos que se emiten en la atmósfera. Estos materiales son Aluminio, Bario y Estroncio. Estos materiales están dañando seriamente los campos, aguas, animales y plantas y están causando un perjuicio a la salud human y a la naturaleza. Recomiendo que veáis el documental en su totalidad y lo compartáis por el mundo. Tenemos que luchar contra esta grave situación.

Lecture at Santa Fe National High School / Conferencia en el Instituto de Santa Fe

Today I had my second lecture in the Santa Fe National High school in Bantayan Island. This time kids were more shy but they were so impressed about the things I was explaining them. After the playing of the documentary Home, they were so touched and they were starting to be more eco-friendly. One example is that teacher was asking two of them to go to buy some snacks and she told them they could use her motorbike. Their reply was... No mom we want to go walking to be more eco-friendly. That is awesome. Results within 5 minutes! I will keep trying to do more lectures... Tomorrow another one!

Hoy he tenido mi segunda conferencia en el Instituto de Santa Fe en la isla de Bantayan. Esta vez los niños eran un poco más vergonzosos, pero se han quedado impresionados con los que les he estado explicando. Después de la proyección del documental Home, estaban completamente afectados y han empezado a ser más eco-amigos. Un ejemplo es que la profesora ha mandado a dos de ellos y les ha ofrecido su motocicleta para ir a por ellos. Su respuesta fue, no señora, queremos ir andando para ser más eco-amigos. Esto es maravilloso, resultados en 5 minutos! Intentaré seguir dando estas conferencias... Mañana a por otra!

Today, an association I am following on facebook, posted this video about the story of bottled water. It is a really interesting video about the business of bottled water and the campaign agains tap water that big companies made in the past. They were scaring us telling that tap water was not safe. Just watch it and decide if you change for tap water. You have economical and environmental reasons to do it.

Hoy, una asociación que sigo en facebook ha posteado un video acerca del agua embotellada. Es muy interesante ver que las grandes compañías de refrescos y aguas nos han asustado diciéndonos que el agua del grifo no es segura. Mira el vídeo y decide por ti mismo si cambias al agua embotellada. Tienes razones económicas y medio ambientales para hacerlo.

Lazarus Proyect / Proyecto Lazarus

Today I want to do a different post. Nothing to do with environmental issues, but good for the human being and good for everybody. So somehow... it is environment. Last year a friend of mine had an accident while he was skiing and he is using a wheelchair from that day... His family and friends were supporting him from the first day but one day doctors said that he would have to use a wheelchair for his whole life.
It has cold like ice but family and friends made it warmer! Now there is a new foundation supporting a study that already was tried with mouses and monkeys and was success. They recover they spinal functions!
Now is time for humans! but make it real is really expensive in Spain, and laboratories and Pharmaceutical companies do not support it because it is not profitable. Let´s demonstrate that the most important thing is to give the people, what life stole them a while ago... you can also be a VICTIM in any moment! See this video and you will understand it... later visit the website. It is in Spanish, but a small donation can make thousand of people to feel the grass between their fingers again!

Hola a todos,

Hace poco más de un año, una persona muy cercana sufrió un accidente que le dejó en una silla de ruedas, de la noche a la mañana.
Siempre se ha dicho que una lesión medular es para toda la vida, que no se puede curar....
Pero nosotros no quisimos quedarnos parados y nos pusimos a investigar.

Y así dimos con la Dra. Ramón Cueto, investigadora especialista en lesiones medulares, que ha estado llevando a cabo un estudio sobre la regeneración de la médula espinal mediante el autotransplante de células GLIA (del bulbo olfatorio) del propio paciente.
Con esta terapia, basándose en su estudio, se ha conseguido devolver la movilidad a ratas, perros, primates y otros animales en laboratorios de diferentes países.

Lejos de recibir las ayudas que necesitaba para poder seguir con su investigación y poder conseguir comenzar a aplicarla en humanos, la Dra. Ramón vió como, al informar de sus primero resultados positivos en primates, la reacción fue todo lo contrario.
Le prohibieron el acceso a su laboratorio, le cerraron las puertas de cualquier subvención económica...etc

Esto probablemente se deba a que, al tratarse de un autotransplante del propio paciente, no hay riesgo de rechazo posible ni es necesaria ninguna medicación durante el proceso. Así mismo, es una práctica no patentable, por lo que digamos que no resulta "rentable" para mucha gente...

Desde ese mismo momento, la investigación sobrevivió gracias a la ayuda de una Fundación formada por lesionados medulares, la Fundación IRSN, quien le ha estado apoyando económicamente durante años, hasta conseguir diseñar los protocolos clínicos necesarios para comenzar su aplicación en personas.
Y ya está todo listo.

Lo único que falta es la financiación para poder ponerlo en marcha y comenzar el estudio con los 5 primeros pacientes, en concreto 700.000 euros.

Y ahí es donde queremos ayudarles nosotros. Y para ello hemos creado: el Proyecto Lázarus: levántate y anda, cuyo objetivo principal es conseguir los 700.000 € necesarios para poner en práctica la terapia a través de nuestra web (www.proyectolazarus.com) y de diferentes iniciativas y eventos de los que iremos informando.

El lema del proyecto es: 

si no conseguimos que una persona done 700mil euros (quien los pillara....), 

quizá podamos conseguir 700mil personas que donen 1€....

o 350mil que donen 2€

o 100.000 personas que donen 7€... etc

Es decir, cualquier donación es válida!!
