How many animals are in extinction danger? / Cuántas especies hay en peligro de extinción?

The fact that the Spanish King was hunting elephants, made me remember that I wanted to write one day about animal species in extinction danger.
Official international statistics say that there are around 5200 animal species under extinction danger. The human behaviour affects directly on that figures, mainly because of illegal trade and hunting. But we are also affecting in an indirect way with the global warming, deforestation and rivers and oceans pollution.
It is a responsibility of every of us to stop it and change the situation. Life in our planet is on our hands.
In many other posts, I have said that small changes in our daily life, can have an unimaginable effect on the planet. Internet is full of ideas and ways to be better with our HOME. Just google how to be more ecofriendly and you will find a lot of information. Think about it now, we can still change it!

El hecho de que el Rey de España estuviera de caza de elefantes, me hizo recordar que quería hablar de los animales en extinción.
Estadísticas oficiales internacionales dicen que hay alrededor de 5200 especies en peligro. El ser humano afecta directamente en estos datos, principalmente por el comercio ilegal y por la caza. Pero también estamos contribuyendo de una manera indirecta con el calentamiento global, la deforestación y la contaminación de ríos y océanos.

Es nuestra responsabilidad parar esta situación y cambiarla. La vida en nuestro planeta está en nuestras manos. En muchas otras entradas siempre he dicho que pequeños cambios en nuestra vida diaria pueden tener un efecto inimaginable en el planeta. Internet está lleno de ideas para ser mejor con nuestro HOGAR. Si buscáis en google como ser más ecoamigo encontraréis cantidad de información. Pensad ahora sobre ello, todavía estamos a tiempo de cambiar ésto.

Ocean's glory and horror / La gloria y el horror de los oceanos

Hi all, I am sad to share this video that give us a real situation of our oceans. I was looking for some videos about this matter and finally I got a good one that explains the excessive exploitation of the oceans and it situation. Brian Skerry is a photographer for National Geographic and he is sharing with us what he saw and pictured with his camera.

CITES

Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. That what Cites means. This convention was formed in 60s with the idea of controlling international transactions for animal and plants. Here you have  a brief explanation from the official website:


"CITES is an international agreement to which States (countries) adhere voluntarily. States that have agreed to be bound by the Convention ('joined' CITES) are known as Parties. Although CITES is legally binding on the Parties – in other words they have to implement the Convention – it does not take the place of national laws. Rather it provides a framework to be respected by each Party, which has to adopt its own domestic legislation to ensure that CITES is implemented at the national level."


Many people does not know that commerce of animals is regulated by this organization, and it has a clear rules to do legal transactions of animals and plants. If you have thought in buying an exotic animal, please be sure that the supplier provides you with all legal certifications. 
To grant the perpetuity of the species under extinct danger, we have to follow CITES rules.
